Aha, I'm back exploring the pages of bfitday.com which must mean it's nearly time for torture.
Hell, why is my birthday in December, it's freaking freezing outside.
I've had 7 weeks of inactivity since screwing up my Ironman attempt in Florida, that alongside the fact that the weather is likely to be awful mean there will be no monster efforts or record attempts for this one.
I've 2 choices. Either a Gold attempt this Sunday (the day before my birthday) or a Silver attempt next weekend when I've a 9 mile fancy dress cross country race on the Sunday.
Plan A is to get it all done on Sunday, but I've a friendly/training group off road Duathlon on Saturday followed by my Tri Clubs Christmas Party so this plan may all depend on what state I am when I crawl back in on Saturday night/Sunday morning.
Which ever weekend it happens I'll do the swim at my local pool and probably make it a straight 5k because I can compare it to the time I did for my friends birthday earlier this year and because I like round numbers (5k = 200lengths).
The bike will be the toughie, especially if the weather is awful. If the weather is dry it'll be my old TREK at 18mph (hopefully) and if the weather sucks it'll be on my Dpecialized hybrid at around 16mph. If the worst comes to the worst it'll be on my turbo but then I'll have to guess as depending on the resistance I set it on I could do 39miles in 1h30m or 3hrs.
If it's this weekend the run will either be along an old railway track or on one of my favourite trail/beach runs. Next weekend it'll be at the race. Either way I'll have my Springer Spaniel (Rosie) along for the run who'll no doubt do a mile or 2 further than me when she goes off course exploring or chasing rabbits.
