Can too much rabies make a living thing aggressive? That's what I've been thinking for days after watching [REC] at a film festival. This Spanish film scared the wits out of me. I was unable to do my research papers and
custom essays because of it.
According to some research papers, those infected with rabies suffer from fever, depression and moments of lethargy. These symptoms weren't shown by the victims of the movie though. A television reporter and a cameraman accompany some firemen to an apartment where a woman is reportedly trapped. The police also go there. What they thought is a routine night would turned into an evening they wouldn't forget; that same woman bites one of the policemen. The next series of events come in rapid pace: the residents go down the entrance hall in panic; the building is sealed by the military; and the reporter's shocking discovery of the cause of the woman's aggressive behavior.
The movie shows that the virus has rabies-like properties, but it turns victims into vicious savages instead. I squirmed at their zombie-like appearance, and that they're anything but lethargic when they attack uninfected residents in the building. But the claustrophobia also gave me the creeps; it was apparent during the final scenes. This might make me not stay in the apartment alone. For the meantime.
