I'm getting pretty excited about this coming Saturday. I've sent out the invitations ordered brunch items. We may partake in a mid morning celebratory libation (mimosa) after the run and bike and before the swim. Not sure how that will affect performance. haha.
Due to heat considerations and the fact that the pool opens at 1100, I've decided to do the order of events backwards from a regular tri. We'll start at 0600 for the run, 0700 for the bike, eat, then finish off the afternoon with a 4 miler in the pool. Since there were some shark and baracuda sightings in Tumon Bay, I'd rather stay out of the salt water and just enjoy the sunset on the beach after it's all said and done. The pool workout will look something like this:
WARM:
500 swim, 500 pull, 400 swim, 400 pul
Set:
8 x (150 swim, 50 kick, 100 IM) each with a diff. interval
Set:
44 x 50 @ descending interval per set of 10/10/10 and 14.
Total 6800K
I'm sure this is just a drop in the bucket for a collegiate swimmer in season. The furthest I've gone in open water is 5K. I'll look forward to staying fueled with the cupcakes that I will have on deck.
