I'm Still Here...Really! 5 days till Showtime!

T-minus 5 days till my attempt at Gold. April 30th 2008. I thought about doing it this weekend, but I'm photographing a race Saturday, and I already put in the leave for Wed. I thought about Sunday, but the Pool doesn't open till 11 or 12, and I dont really want to swim in 50 degree bay water solo. I just stuck a new fork on the Wasp and lowered the drop between my saddle and arm rests from a 20 cm drop to a 12 cm drop for more comfort over longer rides (50 miles or more). T-5 Days, all systems… Continue

Prep Begins

Swam a nice steady state 2000 today (1.2 miles). Started off slow and sped up after the first 1000. The 2nd 1000 was done at what I want my race tempo to be around. Didn't bother with flip turns and coasted a bit by the ends. Total time: 30:31. Going on a 38 mile ride on Sunday and might throw on a brick with that ride. Standard 21 mile rides on Tuesday and Thursday, will try to use one as a tempo and/or intervals. This will be a great gauge for Eagleman as well. Thanks Roman! Continue

T-30 days and counting

Its March 31st. 30 days from now on April 30th will be my birthday and the gold challenge. This will be great prep for Eagleman. My only delima? Bay swim or pool swim. It all depends on the water temp. 58-60 or higher - bay swim. 58 or lower, wuss out and do the pool. 2 mile swim, no big deal. Looking foreward to the bike, I'm working out a route at the moment. 27 miles, again depends on a pool swim or bay swim for the route. Good prep for a century I'm doing in May. The run. 7 miles. This sh… Continue

Special Attempt:

So I passed this whole thing onto my local tri club with a couple of people interested. One gal wants to do the gold but is freaked at swimming for miles (she's 48).

Being the crazy SOB I am, I am offering to do the events somewhat along side of her, or adding them onto my distanctes (27). Basically I would be doubling everything. Hmmm any special awards or props?
