Thanks for the comment and vote of encouragement. Thank goodness that the Coast Guard will be out there supporting us and that they ban all watercraft from the Chesapeake Bay during our swim!

B-Fit B-Day B-Don'ts

We've all read various reports on races and other challenges. So I've decided to mix this up a bit. Somewhere near the bottom of this will be the details of my Platinum Challenge. But first, a few "lessons learned" from the experience.

1. Starting the challenge at 5 p.m. after a day of work, and aiming to finish the challenge before 9 a.m. the next day is a bit aggressive. To avoid this, consider taking a day off from work (or using a weekend).

Just Keep Running

I have a standard routine for marathon runs. First, I taper for a few weeks prior to the run. After completing the run in the morning, I take a long nap in the afternoon. Then, I skip running for a few days (pronounced "weeks") to recover and eat.

Of course, doing silly things for the B-Fit B-Day challenges are far from normal and require a departure from "routine." So does training for a 50-mile ultra-marathon. This weekend, I accomplished a couple personal records related to training.
