I took the platinum challenge yesterday starting at 6:30 A.M.
It started in the dark with a 5 mile run to the local YMCA for a triathlon training swim class. I arrived by 7:30 to start the class. The class only swam 1300 meters which wasn't much help if I was going to be swimming 3 miles that day. At 9:00 immediately after class was over I finished another 350 meters for the first mile. After a short break and call home (My wife's due date with our second child was 10/24/2008) I began my second mile followed by my third. The swim was broke mainly into sets of 200 or 100 meters. A total of 3 hours later at 10:30 (class was 1:30 of that) I was done.
Next was the 5 mile return run home. The last 2 miles were tough but once home I was fine. I took a break for lunch to eat out with my wife, and to run a few errands.
After lunch, at 3:30, it was time for a 30 mile bike ride. I combined two popular routes in my area that worked out to be exactly 30 miles. It seemed that every direction I headed was south or west which just happened to be into a head wind. The ride took longer than I had planned but I finished and was glad to be home.
