But not my Bfit bday challenge... yet!
This year, being a huge year in my life, is a milestone year.
I never really thought about what that meant when I signed up for this challenge months ago. I mean months ago, I hadn't even completed one multisport race let alone a triathlon. A few months ago I was 35lbs heavier and a smoker. A few months ago I was depressed, burnt out and very very unhappy.
Now it is August. I am embarking on turning 30, on becoming a for real, no excuses to hide behind anymore adult. Ugh. An adult. Already? I have shed 35lbs and am on my way to dropping another 30. I quite smoking as soon as the pool demanded it (do you know how hard it is to swim laps when you can barely breath ABOVE water?). I learned how to swim. I bought a bike and now am on my way to riding in the 20's consistently. I have fallen back in love with running.
With health.
With myself.
This milestone year ended up being a TRUE milestone year many times over.
So with that - this weekend starts my ultimate challenge.
The TRIfecta for 30, in addition to my bfit bday challenge.
It goes down like this:
8/10 - Lansing Legislator triathlon
8/11 - I turn..... 29 plus 1 year experience? Ok ok! I turn 30. Fine. Be that way. *hmph* I start my 3 mile swim, 30 mile bike, 10 mile run challenge.
8/13 - Trex Triathlon (miles NOT being included in the Bfit Bday challenge)
8/14 - I complete my bfit bday challenge
8/17 - Island Lake of Novi Triathlon
That is three triathlons (all sprints I am not THAT crazy!) and my milestone challenge.
I am so excited you have no idea. I am a true believer that embracing a challenge like this can start out being novel, sort of crazy in a doable way, and somethign to brag about at training sessions with your clubs and friends... but in the end, if you embrace this as a lifestyle change, you start to see that the REAL finish line has no medal at the end... the real finish line is where you have lived each day without regret, and always moved forward regardless of what obstacles you have to overcome.
I will be documenting my TRIfecta as well as Bfit Bday challenge on this thread and in my blog.
I am kissing my 20's goodbye. Like an old friend that has lost touch and commonality - I too must say goodbye to that era. No more looking back - onward and upward my friends!
