Swim, Bike, and Run your Age!
If Not Now, When?
44 fit day
Yesterday for me, and today for those in the Continental US I celebrating 44 yrs. of fitness.
I invited lots of fit friends to come out and enjoy our day which started with a 4.4 mile run at 0600. The gp. pic is blury. Immediately after the run we transitioned onto our bikes to do a 44 mile ride on Andersen AFB. I divided the route into two loops to give those the option to ride shorter. I did the first loop on the tandem with my husband, Russ. I rode the second loop on my single, with my IM training buds. Each loop did consist of the infamous Tarague climb. It's a 400 ft. gain in about .75 of mile. Hard to see our faces, since the sun is still rising behind us. During our ride I wanted to kids in the neighborhood to have some fun too, so I hid 100+ easter eggs in my front yard for them to hunt. After the run and ride were said and done we had a fabulous brunch at the house with lots of good food and a few mimosas. The final event was the 4 mile swim that I choose to do at the pool at noon time. Boy it was hot. My friend Sarah was the long survivor of the entire swim set. After about 5,000m, her comment was, "This water is NOT refreshing anymore!" Our fluids became very hot sitting on the deck, so we asked Russ to get some ice for us. He was thoughtful enough to bring the ice back to the pool, but it was a bit too late, as we were already walking to our car when he showed up! haha! It took us about 2 hours to do 6400m. Since we really didn't want to descend the 4 sets of 10 x 50, we decided to mix up each set. It was a great day - and we have lots of sunburn marks to prove our efforts. The best part was hanging out on the beach and enjoying the sunset. Cheers, Shannon
