If you are going for Bronze, Silver or Gold this weekend please tell us about it here. Let's here your plans, and your age distance.
Don't forget to take plenty of pictures to document your challenge as you'll want them next week when we announce new sponsor incentives for anybody who completed the challenge in February.
My birthday is Sunday. I plan to do the Gold challenge between about 6:00am Saturday and 1:00am Sunday. Here's the schedule (including the taxiing my teenage daughter that makes the schedule more complicated):
6:00am Meet my Boston Marathon training group for a 15-18 mile run (exceeding the 9 I need for the challenge, but I don't want to cut it short).
9:00am Drive my daughter to her steel drum band practice
9:30-10:30am Swim a mile
12:00pm Pick my daughter up, eat lunch
1:30-2:30pm Swim another mile
3:30-5:00pm Bike 20 miles on trainer (supposed to be cold and wet here)
5:30-6:30pm back to health club for another mile in the pool
7:00pm Drive daughter to high school dance
8:00-10:30pm Rest
11:00pm Pick daughter up from high school dance
11:30-1:00am Bike 19 miles, to complete my 39 miles and the whole challenge.
I'll take photos and tell you all about it.
Good luck to everyone else trying to squeeze this into their Saturday. I'll be thinking of you :-)
I was a bit unclear...I'm not in Boston, just training for the Boston Marathon. I'm in Virginia, where it's actually turning into quite a nice day today. I might even be able to bike outside, but first I have to finish my swim (health club closes early and pool is crowded with kids Saturday afternoon, so I need to make sure to get it done).
So, here's the update:
6:00am-8:45: 17 mile run. Last nine (the required distance for my age) averaging about 7:30 pace (I'll download the data from my Garmin later and report a precise time for the last nine miles).
9:30-11:00 Off to the pool. I swam two miles before my legs cramped with every push off the wall and I had to pick up my daughter.
So, now it's back to the pool and then two moderate sessions on the bike. I'm pretty sore and ready for a good nap, but am generally holding up pretty well. I'll upload the photos when I'm done.
Another update to my day... I uploaded some pictures (most of which I seem to be blinking/squinting in). Here are my times so far: to get my time for 9 miles, I just took the last 9 miles of my 17 mile run this morning. That's nine miles in 1:11:54. None too impressive, given I've recently run a 10 miler in 53 and change, but it was a long run and I knew I was in for a long day. The swim was particularly leisurely. I'm not a very good swimmer and haven't really been training much, so 2:03:53 for three miles. I've biked 30 miles on the trainer while watching college basketball. I'm going to ride the last 10 after midnight, so that I'm doing that leg on my actual birthday (2/10). Then I can wake up tomorrow and take the day off (maybe go skiing :-) )!
Hope all the other weekend warriors are doing well. It makes for a busy day, doesn't it?
At 12:05AM on my birthday (2/10), I completed my 39 mile bike ride and with it, the Gold Challenge. My times were: run = 1:11:54; swim = 2:03:53; bike = 2:17:30.
I'll post images of my GPS data with my photos. Then I'm going to sleep. I'm beat. Happy birthday to me! Hope everyone else is doing well, too.

Damn you and your daft ideas Roman :)
I suggested this to a friend who's birthday's on the 16th Feb and it's snowballed into a full on group triathlon.
I've just had to email 10 of our club to invite them along and now I even need to go book a lane at the local pool incase they all turn up.
What have you done to me??????
Guess i'd better see if I can get some sort of footage done.
I have some good news for you Iain...and sorry about the daft idea. One night I could not sleep and this crazy notion popped into my head and well...here you are ;-)
Anyway, tomorrow we'll be announcing a sponsor premium for the best B-Fit Sherpa's each month.
So since you B-day is in December...it looks like you'll be up for something next month anyway to put a smile on your face.
Thanks for inviting your buddies and being a most excellent sherpa!
